Condolence: Our deepest sympathy to the Demetis family. Just found out when my Mom, Ottalese Haynes, traveled from Barbados to make her annual appointment to see him. So very sad. WIll keep him in our thoughts and prayers.

I was intimidated by you at first but you made sure that I was comfortable with Pulmonology. Thank you for making me feel welcome. I have learned a lot from you in such a short time. Condolence: I am deeply saddened at the news of the passing of Dr. Demetis. I worked under him as an intern, resident and later very closely as his Chief Resident. He was a legendary teacher, an inspiring role model and a great mentor. He was loved by all residents and staff members at Kings County and Downstate Medical Center. He inspired confidence in his students and residents and helped shape the lives and careers of many of us who came to this country from a foreign land. He was a very sensitive and caring human being. He will be deeply missed. My deepest sympathies to the family of Dr. Demetis.

Condolence: My deepest sympathy on your loss. He was a very special person. We all knew it when he first came to us as a resident in the county. I was ER and he did his medical residency and then ICU. He just stood out. He was a hard worker, compassionate, and a bit crazy. But we knew that he would take the best care of his patients.
We are all heartbroken but for the short time he was on this earth he followed his bliss which was medicine. We will all miss him terribly
