Condolence: Where do I begin? Every day I think of my dad and my eyes immediately water. I guess it's a sign of our love for each other and a measure of how much I miss him. He was more than a father, a dear friend. I truly miss calling him and talking about sports, politics, the kids, etc. This truly leaves a void in my life. I am grateful I had my father for 46 years but it still seems like it was cut too short.

My dad was also a loving grandfather to my three kids (Teresa, Michael & Andrew) and father-in-law to my wife Theresa. He enjoyed being all together and especially when the kids would make him laugh and also so proud of their accomplishments. We all miss him dearly and think/talk about him frequently. His spirit lives on in each of us (especially with my son Michael named after him) and he will never be forgotten.

Uncles have a special role. Not being our father, they can be a friend in a different way than any one of our other relatives.

Whether they are crazy and weird and only seen at holidays or at family functions, the loss of an uncle is a particularly hard one.

Their loss, however, is filled with the years of happy memories that we all shared and a special connection that belongs only to uncles.
