Marie Alberte Pompee-Prophete was born on October 26, 1950 in Les Cayes, Haiti. Some of you may have known her by her childhood nickname, Betty. Marie, age 69, was called home on November 10, 2019 in her home with her family and loved ones by her side. She was the lovely daughter of Alphonse Pompee and Servilia Barrer, whom both are now deceased. Betty had seven siblings: four whom are now deceased, Flor, Jean-Marie, Sherer and Bernard, and three whom currently reside in Haiti, Josie, Mai and Laurence.

Marie took great pride in the education that she received in Haiti, which provided a route for her to her pursue a career as a Phlebotomist. In 1981 Marie migrated to the United States of America, striving to pursue a netter future for herself and her family. Marie always knew that her calling was to take care of others. She followed her dreams by becoming and working as a Home Health Aide for many years.

Marie leaves behind her husband, Rodrigue Prophete; her 5 children, Meadjine, Blaise, Rodney, Macdaney and Rodrina; her 6 grandchildren, MArc, Jeanelle, Naziah, Anael, Kingston and Storm; her son and daughters-in-law, Emmanuel, Tasha and Sherley; amongst an abundance of nieces, nephews, cousins , and friends.

Marie was known for being a devoted wife, a lovely mother and grandmother a supportive sister and cousin, a loyal friend, the "cool or funny aunty", and overall a phenomenal woman. Everyone who knew her described her as: generous, caring, energetic, sympathetic and charming. Marie was one who could be greatly depended on. She was always just one phone call away, ready and willing to provide comfort and happiness, even if she was feeling under the weather herself. She was the kind of person that would give her very last, if it contributed to someone else's happiness. She gave the greatest advice, held everyone's secret and never judged a soul. Marie was the life of the party. She loved to sing and dance, especially when it came to her favorite thing called food. She really loved cake and ice cream. In her spare time, Marie loved to play games on her iPad, share positive and inspirational quotes with others, and teach younger generations about morals, respect and integrity. Marie had a heart of gold and a brain full of wisdom. She was a human map that could direct you to anywhere you needed to go on earth. Marie was a strong powerful leader.

Marie will surely be missed, especially for her cooking , sense of humor, loud and vibrant personality, but most importantly her caring, and loving ways. Although we all are mourning the sudden loss of Marie, we are here today to celebrate the life and journey that we all were able to share with her. Today we ask you all to lift up your heads, wipe your tears, and smile while reminiscing on the wonderful memories that we've shared with MArie. As she would say "Don't Be Worry, God Knows Everything", with sweet and beautiful accent. So please remember Marie Alberte Pompee-Prophete lives in each and every one of you.
