Steve A. Evans (aka Popeye), a lifelong resident of Brooklyn, N.Y., truck driver for Southern Wines and Spirits, member of Local Teamsters Union # 917 passed away unexpectedly on the job, Tuesday, April 25, 2017.
Steve was born on August 10, 1950 in Brooklyn, N.Y. where he was an active member of his neighborhood Coney Island. A local staple on the Coney Island Boardwalk, he was well-known to locals and tourists alike, usually found in his favorite place, Ruby’s Bar and Grille. No stranger to being the “life of the party”, Steve was notorious to be the first one to “cut a rug” as he called it, usually to his favorite artists Donna Summer and Neil Diamond, and he was the first to admit his love of the classics and golden oldies especially the Motown era.
A loving father and grandfather, Steve is survived by his ex-wife Vivian Evans (née Diaz), his three children; Vanessa Evans, Demi Evans, and Stephen Evans, as well as three grandchildren, Brien Evans-Magno, Scarlett Evans, and Juliette Evans. He is predeceased by his parents George Evans, and Beatrice Evans (née Olsewski), as well as sister Annie DuMaine (née Evans).
He will be forever loved, and though he will be missed, he will never be forgotten.
