Obituary for Rolly O. Harding

Rolly Otto Harding, was born on September 11, 1950 in Laventille, Port of Spain, and Trinidad. He was the first son of six children to the marriage of the late George and Audrey Harding. He left Trinidad at the age of 17 to study computer science but then, found his passion for welding and made a career out of it as an Ironworker Local 580 member. He was a connoisseur of a multitude of things. Rolly loved to cook, and was an amazing chef as his friends and family would say. If you've never had a pot spoon filled with some hot gravy in the middle of your hand then he didn't let you properly taste his cooking.
He loved you to compliment his great flavors and if you did;t willingly, he'd then ask a dozen questions about your thoughts on the dish to feed his ego. He was also a great baker. We will miss his cassava pone, sweet bread, butter bread etc. Rolly also made tasty traditional drinks like Sorrel, Mauby, Ginger-beer, Seamoss and Ponche De Creme. His cooking and baking skills led him to opening his restaurant named Rolly's Cabin in 1994.
He was so full of laughter and such a comedian, even if he told you a story from 1970 or 2012 over and over again. It was more so hilarious because he was animated with story-telling. Rolly had a green thumb and was a great gardener as well, he planted herbs and veggies that he was proud of like: tomatoes, pumpkin, green onion, Shado Beni, Thyme, Rosemary, and let's not forget about his amazing peppers which earned him the name " The Pepper Man" aka "Hot Boy".
Rolly grew various peppers like Pimento, Congo, and Scorpion pepper which he incorporated into his "famous" homemade pepper sauce and chutney. He was a life coach for many close to him and an empowering life teacher that many will miss. Mr Harding was a singer, more so on birthdays; and if you did't get that birthday song sang by him thinking he's an unsigned calypso artist then you really didn't get sang to, according to him. He loved his family, parrot Murphy, friends, meeting new people, and of course his luxury cars. Rolly was such a socialite, everywhere he went people knew him. He had a contagious smile and such an infectious personality that would light up a room. He was always there to give advice and guidance whether you asked for it or not. This man has always been a reliable listening ear when a family or friend was in need , you were sure to count on him.
He is survived by his beautiful wife of 21 years Wahiyda, and his 11 children, Leanna, Kesha, Tammi, Kimberly, Rolly Jr., Siobahn, Shamian, Hasiyna, Yasmiyn, Naadira, and Sayaa. A son proceeded him in death. Grandchildren; Ethan, Laila, Jalen, Semaj, Jeremy, Lauren, Zaria, Zoie, and Ashton. His sibling Lynette, Barbara Jean, Eastlyn, Teckla, Ancil, Tyrone, Shirley, Ena, and Francilla. His brother Donavon and sister Angela also proceeded him in death.
