Obituary for Sean V. Rowley
Sean Vincent Rowley, 69, of Brooklyn, NY, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on January 22, 2023 after a quick yet tough battle with cancer.
Sean is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Linda; his daughters Heather Rowley Tanella (Michael) & Renée Mahoney (Daniel) and his son Robert Sean Rowley. He was the best Poppy to 5 grandchildren; Michael, Vincent, Anthony, Amalia & Marlowe. He is also survived by his brother Dr. Edwin N. Rowley (Alicia), sister Susan Rowley (Donna Aceto) and brother in law Raymond Reilly. He is predeceased by his parents and sister Joan M. Rowley.
Sean, was born on June 4th, 1953 to Edwin N. and Marie Vatalaro. He was the youngest of 4 children. Raised in Park Slope, he attended St. Saviour’s Elementary School and Xaverian High School. He attended St. John’s University where he graduated with a Bachelors degree in Mathematics and continued his education there receiving his MBA in Operations Research. He pursued multiple jobs in computer coding and data analysis, including NYU Hospital and the Manhattan District Attorney’s office, until he discovered a passion for sales at Digital Equipment Corporation. He continued his career in various sales roles at HP and IBM until his retirement in 2017.
In retirement, Sean followed his passion for volunteering by becoming a scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 187, a position he started in 2010. As a scoutmaster, he shepherded numerous young scouts to the rank of Eagle, including his son.
