Obituary for Marie Gina Magloire

Gina, as she was known by family and friends, was a loving mom and caretaker. She had a big heart, and loved her children, family and life. Gina put her entire being into her family, both flesh and self-made, and devoted her care and effort into uplifting every community she was a part of.

In her social life, as a patriarch, she participated in several marches in favor of the advancement of the Haitian people. She was part of a group of Haitian citizens who braved any type of weather — frozen rain, snow, ice, heavy storms — every single night for causes that she believed in. A picture of resilience and resolution, she stood in front of the United Nations building for the return of democracy in Haiti.

To write about and reminisce on her impact involves a lot of starts and stops, replaying voicemails telling us to stay safe and take one route over the other when we get home, and blanketing ourselves in her poignant advice on life, love and having strength. No words will ever do her justice, and so we hold the memories steadfast and let our love for her beat on in our hearts for eternity.
