Obituary for Geraldine LaBella
Geraldine (Gerry) LaBella, 93. On January 2, 2023, God answered her pleas to be called home.
Born in Brooklyn and a lifelong resident, Gerry was a New York City Teacher for more than 30 years. Her greatest and first love was her family. Losing her husband, Joe more than 20 years ago was as devasting to her the day she died as it was in 1999. Her family is comforted knowing that she is reunited with her husband as well as her parents and the many brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law that have pre-deceased her.
She enjoyed summers in Cape Cod with her son Vito and his family as well as time spent in Brooklyn in the comforts of her home. Forever the typical Italian-American mother and grandmother, Gerry was always gathering her family together to enjoy their presence and over feed them.
Left to carry on without her are Vito LaBella, her eldest son, along with his wife Kim Jalet and their 3 children: Evan, Dylan, and Morgan. Also carrying on without her is her other son, Joseph, his life partner Diane as well as children, Joseph, Michael, and Brandon. Feeling her loss also are her fur-grandchildren, Dundee, Jeter, and Hudson. Gerry is also loved and missed by countless nieces and nephews as well countless loved ones that go beyond the boundaries of a bloodline.
