Obituary for Dean E. DeSantis

Dean Edmund DeSantis, 54, passed away on October 17, 2020 after an extraordinary battle with COVID-19 that accelerated the growth of bile duct cancer, Cholangiocarcinoma (CCA). Dean took his last breath on a beautiful fall day along side his family at Johns Hopkins Hospital. He is survived by his wife: Leslye DeSantis, children: Giovanni DeSantis and Amber DeSantis, mother Joan DeSantis, brother: Mark DeSantis and the ever loving Granja family.

Dean was born on July 6, 1966, the youngest of 3, to Fred and Joan DeSantis in Queens, NY. He was an avid skier, adventurer, body builder, foodie, chef, music lover, and audio enthusiast. His warmth and charisma made him the life of any party.

He serendipitously met his best friend, Leslye, 34 years ago at a Christmas party in Manhattan. They spent much of their young life traveling the world. After getting married, they decided to settle in New England where they gave birth to their 2 children. Dean was an incredible father and husband who attended every sports game, concert, and accomplishment of his children.

Dean and his family settled into their beautiful rural home in St. Thomas, Pennsylvania almost 15 years ago. A natural leader in the community, he received the honor of 4th degree Knight (Knights of Columbus) for his incredible involvement in their local church. Dean was also a car collector and enthusiast who spearheaded the group, Cars & Coffee of Southern PA, growing it to nearly 2,000 members over the last 4 years with the help of his wife.

He was also an established author and blogger who developed an expansive network of leaders in the DC Metro Area. He leaves behind an amazing team at ABC Imaging in Alexandria, VA where he was VP of Operations.

Dean was a 'Renaissance Man'. He often felt in order “to get things done right, you needed to do it yourself.” He leaves behind an extraordinary footprint with a legacy that will not soon be forgotten.
