Obituary for Crescenza Susca

Crescenza Susca passed away peacefully on Monday, July 1, 2019, at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York surrounded by her loving family. She was 91.
Enza was born in Mola di Bari, Italy and lived in Italy until she and her late husband, Giovanni Susca, moved to Brooklyn, New York where they established roots and built their loving family.
Enza was an expert seamstress having learned her trade in Italy and bringing her delicate and detailed knowledge here to the United States where her skills were so appreciated. In addition to her employment with various garment industry businesses, she was so proud of having served our country and retired from Navy Resale System Offices in Brooklyn, New York, where she created the ribbons on the Navy uniforms of officers in the service. Enza was the heart and soul of the Susca family. She loved her two children, grandchildren and great-grandchild with all of her heart. Italian home cooking and travel to Disney World were her favorite pastimes. She loved Epcot the best! She truly lived and believed that what you weave today you wear in eternity and she lived each day of her life helping her family, loving all and being there for them at all times without hesitation.
Nonna, as we called her, was a loving and caring grandmother who adored her four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She helped raise and nurture each child and shared with them her love and zest for life. She loved to laugh with them, sing with them and would often tell beautiful stories of her hometown in Italy, which she loved. She always made them feel safe, comforted and loved. She was enormously unselfish and always placed her children, grandchildren and great-granddaughter first.
In addition to her husband she is predeceased by her parents Gaetano and Maria Ingravallo. She is survived by two children, a daughter, Francesca Bardes of Skillman, New Jersey and son, Dr. Vito J. Susca, of Brooklyn, New York. She is also survived by her beautiful grandchildren, Andrea, Annalisa, Samantha and Robert and the love of her life great-granddaughter, Ellie.
