Bridgette Davis Obituary
Bridgette Louise Davis was born in Newark, New Jersey, on December 21, 1963, to Bernadette
and Robert Davis. She was raised in New York State and ultimately moved to Brooklyn, New
York, in her late teens.
Bridgette graduated from John Dewey High School in Brooklyn, New York, class of 1981.
Bridgette went on to attend York College in Queens, New York. Bridgette started her life with
her high school sweetheart, Jeffery Jenkins, and both Bridgette and Jeffery welcomed their
daughter Nsenga Jenkins in June of 1985. After giving birth to Nsenga, Bridgette went on to
complete college, earning her Bachelor of Science from York College in 1987.
Bridgette spent her life in service to others. Bridgette started her career as a Mental Health
Case Manager in 1986. Since then, she has worked for organizations such as the Jewish
Board of Family and Children’s Services, Catholic Charity, and Kingsboro Psychiatric center, to
name a few.
As education was something instilled in her by her mother, Bernadette, Bridgette went on to
receive her Master’s in Social Work from Hunter College in 2002, all while working full-time
professionally and as a mom to her then teenage daughter.
As a foster care mother, Bridgette opened her home to many children in need, providing a safe,
loving, and stable home to those children.
In 2016, Bridgette became a grandmother to Lailah Hall. Bridgette loved and cherished her
granddaughter with her whole being.
Bridgette retired from her career in Social Work and Case Management to become a real estate
investor entrepreneur of her own company, Lailah, LLC; following her dreams of becoming her
own boss and leaving a legacy for her family.
Bridgette was dedicated to her family and friends and often opened her home to those in need
of respite and guidance.
Bridgette loved to travel the world, going places most would only dream of; Bridgette was
determined to enjoy her life to the fullest.
At the end of 2018, Bridgette was diagnosed with Cancer. But, like other adversities she
tackled throughout her life, Bridgette was determined to fight.
Bridgette bravely, powerfully, and gracefully ran her race, unfortunately succumbing to Cancer
on January 1, 2023.
Bridgette is survived by her daughter, Nsenga Jenkins; her granddaughter, Lailah Hall; her
siblings, Robert Davis, Jr., Albert Davis, Sabrina Johnson, Vincent Davis, Katrena Davis Brown
and Roslyn Davis Stone; her nieces and nephews, Chaminikia Davis, Tayisha Leary,
