"Let Then Stay!"

I remember such fun times which were a part of my childhood days. Parties on East 78th street, sparklers on July 4th, my boy cousins pressuring me into leaving garbage on steps during Ring and Run (and throwing ne under the bus) and lots of Grease songs! The best memories come from family gatherings in pop's upstate house in Monticello. On a space mission with a big rock for our ship and sticks and braches for our controls. Picking apples from the apple tree and playing hide and go seek in the barren barn. Waking up to laughter and aromas of great food. One year stands out when the whole family was up there and my mom told my brother Joe and I we had to leave eay. We were so sad not wanting to leave our family, especially our cousins Frankie, Danny, Donald and Gina. I remember Aunt Lily, who always loved the kids, coming to bat for us and following my mom in the hall saying "Stay! Let the kids stay Lorraine and have fun!" My mom caved and that day my cousins and I walked town to Thompson Park, walked in woods and found a lake to swim in...lasted till dusk. One of the best memories of my childhood...thanks to Aunt Lil. The world just lost some of it's laughter.
